Issues & Positions:

Public Employees Retirement

The State has relieved itself of its prior responsibility of contributing to the pension fund of firefighters, police, and teachers. This abdication of responsibility puts an undue, large financial burden on Hampton taxpayers, driving up our property tax bills. I introduced (and reintroduced) legislation that requires the State to pay 7.5% of contributions for this essential retirement system. My bill passed – and it will provide immediate property tax relief of about $30 million.

Infrastructure

As a civil engineer with construction management experience, I help to vet the Department of Transportation's Ten-Year Capital Plan. Our State – and the Seacoast – need significant investment. My service on the House’s Public Works and Highways Committee helps to ensure that we invest as a State in the areas of greatest urgency and budget thoughtfully for upcoming projects.

Public Education

Hampton’s children deserve a great education. We are proud of our schools. I oppose all policies that divert public tax dollars to non-public schools, threatening the viability of our SAU 90 and SAU 21 schools. Keeping public schools properly funded is the right thing to do for New Hampshire’s children and taxpayers.

Reproductive Rights

Reproductive healthcare should always be a decision made by a patient and her doctor. Republicans in New Hampshire’s State Legislature have enacted legislation which bans abortion without exceptions for rape, incest, fetal abnormalities, or health of the mother. In the State House, I will always oppose efforts by politicians that insert those politicians between patients and doctors.
